Read Around the Planet 2010
Great job to all of you teachers this year with your presentations! There have been several wonderful presentations including a "Wake Up Wellington" student morning talk show, complete with local weather and interview! The students really enjoyed the Wisconsin class presenting "W is for Wisconsin" where the students listed a Wisconsin related item for each letter of the alphabet. Did you know Evel Knievel was from Wisconsin? A class in Argonia has decided to keep in touch with their partner and connect later in the year.
Question time is still my favorite. Once the presentations are done, the classes will ask eachother questions about lots of things. Most of the time, the questions revolve around how big their schools and towns are, the weather in their area, and when they get out of school for the summer. My favorite question is: What are you having for lunch today? That question is usually followed by groans or cheers or "that's not fair"!
Students in Kansas present poems written by Kansas authors to students in Pennsylvania.
There are still several connections scheduled for this week. If you missed out this year, this project is every year and registration begins in November 2010. Join the fun in 2011!
This year there are 20 connections from South Central Kansas DLN Teachers. Overall, there have been reported over 1900 registrations and of those 197 outside of the U.S.! Two of the Kansas teachers have an international connection with Canadian schools.
Students present a morning show "Wake Up Wellington!" to students in Wisconsin. Wisconsin students present the ABC's of Wisconsin.
