The Service Center @ Clearwater offers a variety of programs for grades PreK-12. Below is a list of the programs by content area (History, Math, Early Literacy, and International).

New Program! Heart "E" Heart: A Healthy Life Style for Kids

Description: Children will meet and interact with Heart “E” Heart who is actually a fully-costumed, loveable character. She will tell the children a simple story, teach them an appropriate song that coincides with the theme, demonstrate and practice a fun exercise/game for movement, and learn how to make an easy, healthy snack. Parent take-home letters and wellness coloring pages are additional options that can be sent along with activity packets.

Program: Chinese Valentine's Day

Description: Did you know Chinese people celebrate Valentine's Day but it isn't in February? In China this holiday is celebrated on lunar July 7th. Why do they celebrate on this day? What's the origin? Find out during this program.

Program: Celebrate China - Welcome to China

Description: Students will learn basic Chinese greetings and courtesies; using maps students will explore the diversity of the country and the misconceptions about a culture different from their own.

Program: Celebrate China - Mid-Autumn Day Festival 

Description: This program is a celebration of the joyous Mid-Autumn Festival, with a focus on harvest, relaxation, and family reunion. Chinese food and other customs relating to the festival will be covered.

Program: Celebrate China - The Lunar New Year

Description: The Chinese New Year is the most colorful and important of China's festivals. The New Year may occur as early as January 21 and as late as February 21. Student will identify the importance of celebrating the New Year by experiencing traditions, rituals, and more.

Program: K-3 Mandarin Chinese (Series)

Description: Series of ten programs for Mandarin Chinese language and culture, age-appropriate for grades K-3.

Program: Chinese Words to Chinese Cultures (Religions) - Taoism

Description: Participants will explore traditional Chinese cultures which have influenced the mindset of the Chinese people for thousands of years. Through a unique and simple way students will analyze the Chinese characters (words) and their implied meanings and gain understanding.

Program: Deep Travel into China II: Silk Road

Description: Silk Road is an extensive interconnected network of trade routes across the Asian continent connecting East, South and Western Asia with the Mediterranean world, as well as North and Northeast Africa and Europe.

Grade Level: 6-12

 

Program: Travel through Chinese History

Description: In this program, students will travel from modern China to ancient China in 7 days. We will go to different historical places and transcend time and space. Students will see how Chinese people celebrate their National Day (Independence Day).

Program: Conducting Business in China

Description: Participants will learn rituals to be observed while doing business with Chinese people and will learn how the hierarchy in Chinese culture influence manners.

Description: Chinese art is an important messenger of Chinese culture. This program will focus on Chinese music, dance and opera. Students will enjoy different forms of art, learn some Chinese words, and experience the spirit of Chinese art - harmony.

Description: The Chinese student's life is both busy and colorful. Participants will experience a day in the life of a typical Chinese student including listening to songs, body exercise, the educational culture of China, and the Chinese college entrance exam.

Description: Join us as we discuss the educational thoughts and ways of learning in China which have been handed down for thousands of years. We will explore aspirations, learning methods, different learning styles, life goals, and the foundation of education.

Program: Puerto Rico! Boriken - Puerto Rico's True Name (English or Spanish)

Description: This Caribbean culture is different for other Latin American Cultures. These differences will be presented, along with the Creole influences, the rural inhabitants of Puerto Rico, and the Native Americans of the Caribbean.

Program: Puerto Rico! La Isla Del Encanto - The Island of Enchantment (English or Spanish)

Description: Discover Puerto Rico - its landscapes, its culture, its people. Students will learn several unique characteristics that distinguish Puerto Rican culture from all other Hispanic cultures. They will experience music, cuisine, family traditions, and more!
